Marie Osmond: So what if my daughter is gay?

We knew there was a reason we liked Marie Osmond.

The mother of eight told "Entertainment Tonight" she is completely supportive of her eldest child, Jessica, who is a lesbian.

"I love my daughter! She's my baby girl, come on," she said. "So what if she's gay? She's my daughter and she's an amazing woman and a good kid. I raised her, she better be good."

She went on to preach that her Mormon faith did not keep her from loving her daughter, given her sexual orientation.

"I think it's sad when we have to separate something from society. Whether it's, 'Oh you're Jewish,' and then it was 'Oh you're a Mormon,' or 'Oh you're gay.' I love real people," Osmond said. "A lot of women out there have gay children. Who cares? I want love. I'm a Christian and Christ loved everybody."

Earlier this month Osmond confirmed to a Los Angeles radio station that her daughter is a lesbian and spoke then about her views on same-sex marriage.

“You know, on those types of things I'm very supportive. When it comes to marriage, I think that civil rights need to be for all," Osmond said to the radio interviewer.

"When you start mixing religion into that and beliefs, you know, I do believe in the Bible. My daughter understands my beliefs. And, you know, God said to be married and be productive with your children and, you know, replenish the earth or whatever. She understands those things. My daughter is sharp. And we have a great relationship and I think she would tell you that."
